The rocket launch from Wallops Island on Sunday, November 12, was successful. An earlier launch scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, was postponed.
The launch was barely visible from our neighborhood because of cloud banks over the Chesapeake Bay. For a few seconds after launch, the flame from the tail of the rocket was visible as a bright yellow-orange spot climbing into the sky then disappearing behind the cloud bank.
Rockets are launched from the Wallops Island launch pad from time to time. Watch their website for launch schedules: Wallops Island NASA website.
