This special weather advisory for our area was posted by the National Weather Service.
…Bitterly cold temperatures along with hazardous travel
conditions overnight…(the night of Jan 6-7, Saturday and Sunday)
Arctic high pressure will move over the area overnight. The
combination of a clear sky, light winds and the snow cover will
allow for maximum cooling with many areas breaking their record
lows. Temperatures by sunrise Sunday will range between two

In addition, any melting of the snow that took place today will
refreeze. Many secondary roads across central and eastern Virginia
as well as northeast North Carolina will again be ice or snow
covered resulting in hazardous travel overnight into Sunday
morning. Motorists are urged to use caution while driving, keeping
plenty of distance between you and other motorists.

- Sunday night, Jan 7: 16 deg
- Monday, Jan 8: High 41; low 32
