Remnants of Hurricane Ida projected to affect us Wednesday, Sep 1, afternoon-night

The remnants of Hurricane Ida are projected to affect our area beginning Wednesday morning, Sep 1, and continuing though most of Wed-Thu night, Sep 1-2.  The latest National Hurricane Center projection calls for our area to experience:

  • 2-4 inches of rain
  • Winds below 39 MPH

Below are (1) graphics from the National Hurricane Center, and (2) the 4:50 PM Sunday warning from the National Weather Service in Wakefield VA.

The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Ida may impact the region on
Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms associated with this system
could produce some instances of flash flooding, especially across
the Piedmont. Isolated severe storms will also be possible.
