Tropical Depression IDA final update

This is the final update concerning the impact of the remnants of Hurricane Ida — now a Tropical Depression — on our neighborhood.

Short version:  We can expect rain and wind beginning Wednesday, Sep 1 — probably around noon — and continuing until late Wednesday/Thursday night (Sep 1-2).


This map from the National Hurricane Center shows projected rainfall amounts — we are on the edge of the 1-2 inch and 2-4 inch rainfall.  We likely will experience flooded roads and ditches, and, winds of 10-12 MPH with gusts up to 20 MPH-Plus

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast Maryland, central
Virginia, east central Virginia, eastern Virginia, north central
Virginia and southeast Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing
heavy rain with localized flash flooding possible this afternoon and
evening. Isolated strong to severe storms will also be possible,
with damaging wind gusts as the primary threat.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Ida will impact the region
Wednesday and Wednesday night. Showers and thunderstorms associated
with this system could produce some instances of flash flooding,
especially across the Piedmont. Isolated severe storms will also be
possible.
